Windmill

Where Windmills generate, where both chests are, and which one holds Song of Storms.

Documented

The Windmill has two meaningful chests: a lower regular chest with the guaranteed Song of Storms sheet and a much higher secret chest with rarer rewards.

Where can it generate?

Biome ID or tagRequirement
minecraft:plainsVanilla ID or built-in tag
minecraft:swampVanilla ID or built-in tag
#c:is_plainsOptional compatibility tag (requires matching data)
#c:is_swampOptional compatibility tag (requires matching data)

Biome membership is an eligibility rule, not a guarantee. Optional #c: tags only broaden placement if populated in this world or modpack.

Confirmed structure-specific behavior

Windmill world-generation data confirms a surface structure and biome eligibility. The regular lower-level chest is present in this template and uses a loot table guaranteeing one Song of Storms sheet. An elevated secret chest uses a separate table.

Inside the structure: decoded template

The windmill.nbt template is 25 × 28 × 20 blocks with 14,000 explicit block records. The counts refer to the saved template, not a guarantee that every server places the same structure.

  • There are exactly two placed chests in the decoded template: the regular chest near the lower floor and a separate elevated secret chest.
  • The regular chest loot table guarantees Song of Storms sheet music; the secret table has a 10-weight bottled Tael option against 90-weight bottled Healing Fairy, and also contains an enchanted-book pool.

Finding it

  1. Search eligible biomes in newly generated terrain. Config changes do not alter old chunks.
  2. On a cheats-enabled world, try /locate structure mastersword:windmill, provided the built-in pack is enabled.
  3. Keep in mind that the shared generator requires relatively flat land and excludes village-adjacent candidates.

World-generation rules

Structure generation is affected by enabled data packs, biome-tag population and server configuration. The default spacing is 40 chunks, minimum separation is 30 chunks, and a candidate is excluded within 10 chunks of village structure-set candidates. The custom land generator rejects starts at a sampled center height of 250 or above and layouts whose sampled surface varies by more than four blocks.

Generation notes

These biome rules come from the structure’s built-in biome tag and worldgen definition. Server configs or datapacks can change what appears in a world. Structure definition: src/main/resources/packs/windmill/data/mastersword/worldgen/structure/windmill.json.

Template versus gameplay

This page documents saved block/entity records and any linked loot-table JSON. It does not claim to solve a dungeon puzzle, guarantee every random reward, or verify an actual in-game screenshot.
